queer.red presents The Body Politique Sex Worker Manifestos incl. panel talk

Onze queer identiteiten – genders en sexualiteiten – plaatsen queer sex werkers in een intersectie, waar de staat onze lichamen zowel politiseert als fetisjiseert. Deze collectie van short films representeert het hart van wat het doel is van queer.red’s sex werker film en kunst festival: een ruimte creëren waar queer sex werkers de kamera en microfoon vast hebben. Tijdens deze Queer & Pride nodigen we je uit om te genieten van de schoonheid van de filmkunst en je bezig te houden met zowel het persoonlijke als het politieke. Na de film zal er een paneel zijn met de sex werkers om de huidige politiek in het context te bespreken.

Fuck you, betaal mij! (Mercy St. James, NL, 2024, 8’, Engels)

Twee Amsterdamse raamwerkers worden ruw onderbroken door het lelijkst denkbare schouwspel, de burgemeesters erotische gevangenis: een gebouw waar de kwaadaardige regering sex werkers voorgoed wilt opsluiten! Gelukkig weet hun Domme vriend de perfecte oplossing: ga er gewoon op zitten! Fuck you, betaal mij! Is de ultieme vorm van het lichaam (en konten specifiek) als krachtig instrument van verzet tegen de onderdrukking van sekswerkers over de hele wereld!

De hoerenopstanding (Beau, NL, 2024, 9’, Engels)

Lilith, de originele vrouwelijke verstoteling en hoermoeder is herrezen nadat een hoerige ritualist een offering maakt. Cinematisch en adembenemend, de hoerenopstanding is zowel een gedicht als een gebed om alle sekswerkers – verleden, heden en toekomst – te beschermen en welvaart te brengen.

Onweerstaanbaar (Barbora Kleinhamplová & Miss Velvet, Mex, 2021, 20’, Engels)

Relaties in BDSM zijn gecentreerd rond de kwestie van toestemming. De dominante en de onderdanige moeten beiden van te voren instemmen op wat hun rollen zullen inhouden. In rollenspel, moeten de acteurs een specifiek scenario gebaseerd op de fantasieën die ze willen vervullen. Samen brengen ze hun verlangen tot leven. Hoewel er ook een andere aanhoudende vraag is: heeft deze kort durige ontsnapping van het alle daagse leven een impact op de acties van de acteurs nadat het rolspel eindigt? Kan het spel invloed hebben op hoe de “slaven” vrouwen en leden van minderheden erna in hun dagelijkse leven benaderen? Het verhaal van Mistress velvet introduceert ons tot BDSM als een sfeer van ondermijning waardoor een individu een breeder maatschappelijke verandering kan brengen.

Is het door feest en gemeenschap dat we onze veerkracht kunnen waarderen? Door het belang van genegenheid en gemeenschap centraal te stellen, wordt het vieren van de derde verjaardag van een sekswerker een extra gelegenheid in het proces om een einde te maken aan het stigma, het trauma, de schaamte en de angst die deze baan omringen.

Parijs, 2020, Midden in de pandemie woedt er een sociale beweging. Een feministische graffiti-activistengroep bereidt zich voor op een actie voor het respect van hoeren.

 

Our queer identities – genders and sexualities – place queer sex workers at an intersection where the state (the so called politic) both politicizes and fetishizes our bodies. This collection of shorts represents the heart of what queer.red’s sex worker film and art festival aims to do: create a space where queer sex workers hold the camera and the microphone. This Queer & Pride we invite you to enjoy the beauty of the art of film and engage with the personal as political. A panel will follow with sex workers to discuss current politics in their contexts.

 

Fuck you, Pay Me! (Mercy St. James, NL, 2024, 8’, English)

Two Amsterdam window workers are rudely interrupted by the ugliest sight imaginable, The Mayor’s Erotic Prison: a building where the evil city government wants to lock away sex

workers for good! Luckily their domme friend knows the perfect solution: just sit on it! Fuck You, Pay Me! is the ultimate form of the body(and butts, specifically) as a powerful tool of resistance against the oppression of sex workers everywhere!

The Whoresurrection (Beau, NL, 2024, 9’, English)

Lilith, the original femme outcast and whoremother is resurrected after a particularly whore-y ritualist makes a sacrifice. Cinematic and breathtaking, the Whoresurrection is both a poem and prayer to protect and bring prosperity to all sex workers – past, present and future.

Irresistible (Barbora Kleinhamplová & Miss Velvet, Mex, 2021, 20’, English)

Relationships in BDSM are centered around the issue of consent. The dominant and the submissive both have to agree beforehand on what their roles are going to entail. In role play, the actors follow a specific scenario based on the fantasies they wish to fulfill. Together they work to bring their yearnings to life, although there’s also another, lingering question: do these short-lived escapes from everyday reality have an impact on the actors’ actions after the role play ends? Can the play influence how the „slaves“ approach women and members of minorities afterwards in their daily lives? Story of Mistress Velvet introduces us to BDSM as a sphere of subversion through which an individual can bring about a broader societal change.

Skunk Manifesto (LaMetro and Lomo Maniás, Spain, 2022, 6’, Spanish with English subs)

Is it through celebration and community that we can value our resilience? By placing the importance of affection and community at the center, celebrating the third birthday of being a sex worker becomes one more venue in the process of seeking to end the stigma, trauma, shame and fear that surround this job.
