In hun eerste lange animatiespeelfilm vertellen Orian Barki en Meriem Bennani op ontwapenend-geestige wijze over de complexe band tussen een moeder en haar queer dochter. Bouchra volgt een filmmaker in New York die met haar moeder in Marokko belt, terwijl ze probeert een film te maken over haar vertrek uit Casablanca en de stilte die na haar coming-out tussen hen ontstond. In een fantasierijke mix van documentaire, fictie, improvisatie en flashbacks krijgen moeder en dochter de vorm van om elkaar heen cirkelende coyotes. Bouchra follows a filmmaker in New York as she calls her mother in Morocco, trying to shape a film about leaving Casablanca and the long silence that followed her coming out. Blending documentary, fiction, improvisation and flashbacks, the film transforms mother and daughter into circling anthropomorphic coyotes. The result is a layered, funny and moving exploration of family, chosen family, migration and the fragile work of finding a way back to one another.
