Hiruko the Goblin is a creature feature horror in which a strange goblin from Japanese folklore named Hiruko is sent to Earth to behead students and turn their bodies into demons. Set in 80s summer days, students disappear while the local school appears to be built on top of the gates of hell. This weird genre mashup combines slapstick comedy and teenage melodrama with nightmarish body horror. It combines over the top visuals, practical effects, and stop-motion animation in this campy horror ride fusing body-horror, folklore and humor.
