FIGHT THE POWER: GOODBYE JULIA INCL. Q&A
For this edition of Fight The Power: Films of Resistance, we’re screening Mohamed Kordofani’s quietly devastating Goodbye Julia. Set in Khartoum in the years surrounding the secession of South Sudan, the film explores the intimate consequences of Sudan’s entrenched racial, ethnic, and political divisions, tracing how historical injustice and unspoken guilt shape everyday relationships long after formal political change.
To deepen our understanding of how these unresolved histories continue to structure Sudan’s present — fuelling mass displacement, ethnic violence, and what many human rights organisations have described as genocidal campaigns, particularly in Darfur — the screening will be accompanied by a post-film discussion addressing the roots and realities of Sudan’s ongoing crisis.
