NEW HOLLYWOOD:
THE FILMS OF THE AMERICAN NEW WAVE
This fall, we plunge into the raw, untamed energy of 1970s American cinema with the re-release of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Marking the film’s 50th anniversary, and accompanied by our retrospective Jack of All Trades: The Best of Jack Nicholson, the season traces the fevered pulse of the New Hollywood era — a time when rebellious filmmakers and magnetic stars redefined the boundaries of American storytelling.
New Hollywood was a transformative era in American cinema, spanning the late 1960s to early 1980s, when young, rebellious directors replaced the fading studio system with bold, auteur-driven filmmaking. Influenced by European art cinema and the social upheavals of the time, they brought realism, ambiguity, and political awareness to the screen, redefining what mainstream movies could be.
Please note that additional dates and screening times will be announced in the coming weeks.
