The work begins with footage from East Broadway Mall in New York’s Chinatown during the pandemic, where workers describe both their expectations regarding working conditions and the actual circumstances in a neighborhood that is gradually becoming more vacant and transforming daily. It then moves to footage from Beijing, captured around the time of the White Paper Protest – both before and after – including scenes of quarantine, family life, memorial sites of June 4th, and an underground queer party, ending with footage from Hong Kong: the cross-harbor tunnel, which references the siege of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a wound that still remains open.

Het werk begint met beelden van East Broadway Mall in New Yorks Chinatown tijdens de pandemie Hier beschrijven werknemers zowel hun verwachtingen ten aanzien van de arbeidsomstandigheden in een buurt die geleidelijk aan steeds leger wordt en dagelijks verandert. Vervolgens worden er beelden getoond uit Peking, opgenomen rond de tijd van het White Paper-protest – zowel ervoor als erna – waaronder scènes van quarantaine, gezinsleven, herdenkingsplekken van 4 juni en een underground queerfeest. Het werk eindigt met beelden uit Hongkong: de tunnel onder de haven, die verwijst naar de belegering van de Hong Kong Polytechnic University, een wond die nog steeds open ligt.
