HOFF: Slow incl. Panel Talk

Een poëtische film over aseksualiteit, intimiteit en grenzen. Het nagesprek gaat in op representatie, zichtbaarheid, vooroordelen en het recht op zelfbeschikking.

Wanneer de relatie tussen danseres Elena en gebarentolk Dovydas van platonisch naar romantisch verandert, moet het koppel op zoek naar een vorm van intimiteit die voor hen beiden werkt. Hun verbintenis, die stereotypen doorbreekt over aseksualiteit en traditionele ideeën over relaties herdefinieert, laat zien hoe geliefden op verrassende manieren kunnen samensmelten.

Slow, een coproductie tussen Litouwen, Spanje en Zweden, ging in première op het Sundance Film Festival in januari 2023 en was later dat jaar in Europa voor het eerst te zien op het Karlovy Vary Festival in Tsjechië. De film werd namens Litouwen ingezonden naar de 96e Academy Awards.

When the relationship between dancer Elena and sign language interpreter Dovydas shifts from platonic to romantic, the couple must find a form of intimacy that works for them both. Their bond, which breaks stereotypes about asexuality and redefines traditional ideas about relationships, shows how lovers can come together in surprising ways.

Slow, a co-production between Lithuania, Spain and Sweden, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023 and later that year had its European premiere at the Karlovy Vary Festival in the Czech Republic. The film was submitted by Lithuania for the 96th Academy Awards.
