Fundraiser Turkey & Syria: The Wild Pear Tree

Turks gesproken
Engels ondertiteld

Following the devastating impact of the earthquakes across Turkey and northern Syria, we will be screening the beautiful Turkish film The Wild Pear Tree by acclaimed director Nuri Bilge Ceylan to raise funds for those affected in the area. All proceeds of this screening will be donated to a to-be-determined grassroots aid organization; please consider an extra donation when purchasing your ticket.

The director of the Cannes-winning Winter Sleep returns with another visually dazzling and probing examination of human relationships. Sinan returns from his college to his parents’ home in a rural Turkish town. While there, he hopes to complete a book of essays and short stories. But concerns over the state of his family – particularly his gambling addict father – and his future leave him wandering the landscape, gripped by his fears. From this simple premise, Ceylan weaves a spellbinding tale that takes a scalpel to the complexities of human affairs.
