As legendary director Dario Argento commands the lead in Gaspar Noé’s latest film Vortex, we’re proud to screen two of his infamous ‘giallo’ films. Argento refined his visual language while defining the giallo genre in the 1970’s, but some of the most rambunctious and operatic (pun intended) works of the Italian maestro were conceived in the decade after that. Opera is classic Argento but with the added cinematographic trickery (the gunshot through the lock should look familiar to the Tarantino fan) and preference for animal attacks that seem to complement his work in this period. English language (well, dubbed) without subtitles.
