Network is een Amerikaanse satirische zwarte komedie-dramafilm uit 1976, geschreven door Paddy Chayefsky en geregisseerd door Sidney Lumet, over een fictief televisienetwerk, UBS, en haar strijd met slechte kijkcijfers. In de film spelen Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch en Robert Duvall en zijn Wesley Addy, Ned Beatty en Beatrice Straight te zien.
De film won vier Academy Awards, in de categorieën Beste Acteur (Finch), Beste Actrice (Dunaway), Beste Bijrol (Straight) en Beste Originele Scenario (Chayefsky).
In 2000 werd de film door de Library of Congress geselecteerd voor bewaring in de United States National Film Registry als zijnde “cultureel, historisch of esthetisch belangrijk”. In 2002 werd de film opgenomen in de Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame als een film die “een blijvende standaard heeft gezet voor Amerikaans amusement”. In 2006 werd Chayefsky’s script door de twee Writers Guilds of America verkozen tot een van de 10 beste scripts in de filmgeschiedenis. In 2007 stond de film op de 64e plaats van de 100 beste Amerikaanse films zoals gekozen door het American Film Institute, een positie die iets hoger was dan die AFI hem tien jaar eerder had gegeven.

In 2000, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”. In 2002, it was inducted into the Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame as a film that has “set an enduring standard for U.S. American entertainment”. In 2006, the two Writers Guilds of America voted Chayefsky’s script one of the 10 greatest screenplays in the history of cinema. In 2007, the film was 64th among the 100 greatest American films as chosen by the American Film Institute, a ranking slightly higher than the one AFI had given it ten years earlier.
