Le Pot-Au-Feu

Zintuigelijke film van regisseur Trần Anh Hùng die zich afspeelt in het 19e-eeuwse Frankrijk en gaat over de ontluikende romance tussen de kokkin Eugenie (Juliette Binoche) en de fijnproever Dodin (Benoit Magimel). Geïnspireerd door een roman uit 1924, verkent de film de wereld van de Franse gastronomie in 1885.

Set in 1880s France, The Taste of Things (The Pot au Feu) is a love story between people, and between cooks and the alchemy of cuisine. Binoche plays a chef working for an epicure, with whom she has a tender complicity in the kitchen and beyond. Exquisitely reinventing a classic strain of French cinema, Anh Hung Tran (The Scent of Green Papaya, At the Height of Summer) serves up a rich, poetic celebration of the ecstasies of the palate, mind and heart.
