This program features the film Yellow Peril: Queer Destiny and a following talk with writer Pete Wu on the lives of second Chinese Dutch millennials.

 

The Banana Generation by Pete Wu
Pete Wu (1985) is a Dutch journalist, writer and programme-maker. He graduated in English literature, media philosophy and journalism, and has published prose for literary magazines De Gids en Das Mag. He’s been working as a freelance journalist for De Volkskrant, NOS, International Film Festival Rotterdam, VICE and Brandpunt+. In October 2019, he debuted with literary non-fiction book ‘De bananengeneratie’ (‘The Banana Generation’), about the lives of second-generation Chinese Dutch millennials.

 

Yellow Peril: Queer Destiny (dir. David Ng, Jen Sungshine, Canada, 20 mn., 2019)
An experimental documentary that explores the nuances of queer diasporic, Chinese culture. The narrative follows the story of the Vancouver-based drag artist “Maiden China” (aka Kendell Yan).

All talks are €5 and free for people that already have a ticket to any screening of IQMF. Collect your free ticket at the box office in LAB 111 by presenting your film ticket.
