HÄXAN (1928) + LIVE SCORE BY WANDERWELLE
film screening with live score by Wanderwelle
With their dark electro-acoustic sound, Wanderwelle will bring a contemporary, haunting soundtrack to the film Häxan (1922). Expect a brutal stream of guitar drones and terrifying noise combined with delicate soundscapes and layered melodies.
The collective Wanderwelle, consisting of Alexander Bartels (1993) and Phil van Dulm (1993), works with sound and imagery. Their music resides in the twilight zone of ominous ambient and experimental music which they perform with a vast arsenal of electronic, acoustic and self-made instruments. In a brief period, they became known for their vinyl albums and live performances ranging from art galleries to Koninklijk Theater Carré. Currently, their climate crisis-inspired album trilogy is being released on the prestigious, American label Important Records. This summer, the Eye Filmmuseum is screening their debut film, The Four Nightmares, and an accompanying video installation.
