GALVANIZED: THE FILMS OF JONATHAN GLAZER
In honor of his upcoming drama The Zone Of Interest (2023), we are showcasing the thought-provoking films of former video clip maestro Jonathan Glazer, who has since utilized his expertise in music videos in the creation of extraordinarily stylish tales on alienation and solitude.
Glazer first found fame for his revolutionary work on various high-profile commercials and music videos, including Radiohead’s ‘Street Spirit’, Jamiroquai’s multi-MTV award-winning ‘Virtual Insanity’ and the ground-breaking ‘Guinness Surfer’, which is still considered one of the best commercials of all time. Following his iconic advertisements for – among others – Nike, Sony, Volkswagen, Stella Artois, Wrangler, Channel 4, Apple, Levis and Alexander McQueen, he has since broken into the blockbuster world in 2004 with his feature film “Birth”. Skillfully merging his mastery of the art of music videos with his exploration of themes such as isolation and desperation, his movies immerse viewers into deeply personal experiences rather than clear-cut stories. With his newest and arguably best movie, The Zone Of Interest, recently having been awarded the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, we are featuring a selection of the extraordinary artist’s filmography.
